En adoptant une théorie sociale de l'apprentissage et les ' communautés de pratique ' de Wenger (1998, 2002), ce livre étend le cadre de Huber & Hutchings pour étudier la forme intégrée de la pratique individuelle et collaborative de la SdF. Les ' connaissances pratiques personnelles ' de Connelly, Clandinin & He (1997) sont examinées à la lumière de la ' communauté de vérité ' de Palmer (1998), ce qui vise à développer une perspective intégrée pour comprendre l'évolution des connaissances pratiques personnelles des enseignants dans la communauté de la science de l'apprentissage.
