The maps and plates show the Japanese advance up the peninsula, including shots of their bicycle-mounted infantry. The illustrations on the wrappers were designed by Yokoyama Ryuichi, a popular manga artist and cartoonist for the Asahi newspaper. Small octavo. With 16 half-tone photographic plates, 2 folding maps (1 in colour), maps in text; title page printed in red and black, text in Japanese. Single page of publisher's advertisements at rear as issued. Original paper wrappers, wire-stitched and glued into wrappers as issued, spine and wrappers lettered in red and black, wrappers decorated with colour vignettes. Binding a little rubbed at extremities, rear joint a little split at head but holding firm, maps and contents a little toned as expected: a very good copy.
