M. Williams, R.A. circa 1742. Reproduced by special permission from the original in Didsbury Wesleyan College, Manchester. Both volumes have a period bookplate to the front free endpaper: 'ex Libris Muff'. ***Volume I: Illustrated with thirty-two black and white plates plus tissue-guarded colour frontispiece. Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles and double rules to spine. Head and tail of spine rubbed and frayed. Small split and fraying to head of spine cloth. Interior pages and plates clean. All plates present as called for. Spine tight. A hint of sporadic foxing to margins of a few pages. This title was originally glued rather than sewn together and as a result almost all copies tend to dry out and fall apart. This copy has been beautifully restored, reglued and securely bound. Whilst many of the plates are lacking it is still a desirable copy and attractive copy. The text and maps are complete. A very scarce title in any condition. The Workman's fifth and last Karakoram Expedition 1911-1912, exploring Hush valley, Saltoro & Baltoro glaciers. This is by far the scarcest of the Workman titles.
