Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The Adventures of Gerard is a collection of short stories written by the renowned author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The book follows the adventures of Etienne Gerard, a French Hussar officer during the Napoleonic Wars. Gerard is a brave and cunning soldier, but also a vain and boastful one, who…always manages to find himself in the middle of dangerous situations. The book is divided into ten stories, each one recounting a different adventure of Gerard's, from his time as a young officer to his retirement in old age. The stories are full of action, humor, and clever plot twists, and provide a fascinating insight into the life and times of the Napoleonic era. The Adventures of Gerard is a must-read for fans of historical fiction, adventure, and Conan Doyle's writing.1903. Doyle, the English novelist best known for his Sherlock Holmes detective books, also wrote historical novels and military books. In this volume he endeavors to give a true historical and military atmosphere to the imaginary figures of Napoleonic soldiers. Contents: How Brigadier Gerard Lost His Ear; How the Brigadier Captured Saragossa; How the Brigadier Slew the Fox; How the Brigadier Saved the Army; How the Brigadier Triumphed in England; How the Brigadier Rode to Minsk; How the Brigadier Bore Himself at Waterloo; and The Last Adventure of the Brigadier. See other titles by this author available from Kessinger Publishing. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
