Bissell of Lansing Michigan, and dated Dec 20, 1923. Original binding of green cloth boards with red leather to spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling in leather is worn and spots, particularly along the edges. There are several spots on the hinges which are worn completely through to the backing. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding, for the most part is good except for the front hinge, which is starting to open along the top half. The rear hinge is fine and all of the pages are secure. There is also a tear in the tissue guard for the frontispiece. All illustrations have been verified as being present, though there are also some in the book that are not listed on the index page. In addition: at page 244 there is an illustration of "Rosamond Seely". There is also a second copy of this image, presumably removed from another book (though the page is more narrow and a bit longer than the ones in this book. It is the exact same image but on the back of the page there is a signature of Rev.Bissell. This extra page is included and will stay with the book. This is an extremely rare title, not taking into account that it is signed to the author's Reverend and friend on his birthday. The title page states this is "a true life story" but the context of the book seems to lean more towards temperance and religion. The last line in the book reads: "Hail!
