Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Oversized hardcovers. 4 volumes, Bound in smooth brown cloth, designed to resemble leather. Each volume measures 15 x 20 inches, and fully 2 inches thick. Reinforced binding with linen tabs for most of the plates. This is the original 1915 edition, complete with more than 400 plates -- including elevation drawings, architectural detail drawings, photographs and photogravures. Illustrates projects large and small, from New York's Penn Station to private gatehouses. Volume 1 is the years 1879-1898. Volume 2 is 1898-1908. Volume 3 is 1904-1910. Volume 4 is 1910-1917. Each volume has about 100 plates, numbered and collated. This copy has a couple rubberstamps from architecture firm where is once lived, the important Chicago firm of Mundie & Jensen. Mundie and Jensen were contemporaries of McKim, Mead and White, or overlapped with them at any rate. A nice contemporary provenance. As you can see from the photos, there is some surface wear to hinges and extremities of the spine, but everything is still firmly bound, and opens flat and lies flat on the table.
