First issued in 1761 by celebrated children's publisher John Newbery, authorship is generally attributed to Newbery, possibly with input from Oliver Goldsmith. This is the second printing of the revised and expanded 'New Edition', and the 9th edition overall. A popular children's educator, the book remained in print until the end of the 1830s.
