[2], 14pp. 8vo. Disbound. ESTC T33526, a quarto edition was also published the same year. It forms a reply to John Tillotson's 'Of the Eternity of Hell Torments', preached in 1690, and re-published in 1708.

A scarce religious work by William Lupton, featuring a sermon addressed to the Right Honourable Nathanael Lord Crewe Lord A scarce first edition. Rebound in black cloth with original leather spine. Nathaniel Lord Crewe (16331721) was Bishop of Oxford from 1671 to 1674, then Bishop of Durham from 1674 to 1721. As such he was one of the longest serving Bishops of the Church of England. The binding is firm, although the front hinge is starting. There is some mild wear to the extremities, with the top and tail of the spine being worn, with a small section missing. Internally the pages are generally clean, with just mild spotting and handling marks to the first and last couple of pages. There are blindstamped institutional marks on the title page and last page. There is an ink inscription on the last page. Good. book.

4to, pp. 536, vii, [1], iv, 96, with chromolithographic title, coloured frontispiece with tissue guard, and 38 plates (of which 13 coloured); slight spotting to title, frontispiece and guard worn at fore-edge; a very good copy in publisher's red cloth over bevelled boards, blocked in black and gilt and lettered in gilt, speckled edges, yellow endpapers; a little rubbed with abrasion to lower board, corners slightly bumped with minimal losses, end-caps chipped.Miles's comprehensive and generously illustrated treatise on veterinary science. The text first appeared in sixteen monthly parts, issued between 1868 and 1869, before being published in several undated editions in quick succession, accompanied by plates by the sporting artist Benjamin Herring (18301871). Signed Photograph. Black and white photograph, measures 17cm x 24.5cm. Photography by Harris & Hewing of Washington, D.C., with a copyright date of 1908 embossed on lower corner. Inscribed by President Taft along the bottom quarter: "For Stuart K. Lupton with best wishes of William H. Taft / The White House / April 21, 1909." The recipient of this photograph, Mr. Stuart K. Lupton, was a member of the United States diplomatic corp, serving as U.S. Consular to India, China, the Azores, Rome and Bulgaria. In retirement he lived in Clarksville, Tennessee, dying in 1942. Signed.
