Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. RAILROADS THE RAILROAD CABOOSE BY WM. F. KNAPKE W/ F. HUBBARD 1968 165 ILLUSTRATIONS. I have a lot of books about railroads, many of them larger picture books which I hope will be of interest to collectors and railroad buffs. I am going to start a group listing of lots of these books and gauge the interest. Because there will be a lot of them, and hopefully attract the attention of folks familiar with this theme, I won t be doing very elaborate listings and will try to list them all at once so as to make it easier to find them among my present catalogue. Here s one of those that I am starting with that the connoisseur might argue should come at the end, titled: The Railroad Caboose--Its 100 Year History, Legend and Lore, by William F. Knapke with Freeman Hubbard. This medium-sized hard cover book (5 ¾ x 8 ¾ inches, 237 pages) was published by Golden West Books of San Marino, California, dated 1968. Research suggests that this is the First Edition. The book is bound in orange cloth boards with black titles on the spine and protected by a nice pictorial dust jacket. The book is amply enhanced with 165 illustrations, all b&w, starting with an interesting cross-section of a caboose as decoration for the endpapers. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is some light edge wear to the dust jacket especially on the top edge and at the top of the spine. The hard covers are clean, bright and unbumped. A former owner has left his dated name on the first blank page. That is the only mark I found in the book and the interior pages are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
