The fourth edition of the very scarce A School Book of Help: Wherein Will be Found Lessons Worth Remembering, an anthology of biblical lessons for children to learn and enjoy, written by William Cullis. Privately printed and sold by George Bayley. Believed to have been published in 1850, thought to be first published in the 1840s. No institutional copies are available of this work, with only one institutional copy of the first edition held in the National Library of Wales. Smartly rebound in blue cloth, with the publisher's original wraps bound inside. Contains in-text illustrations, including a frontispiece of Oswald's Well, and a small wordsearch to the rear. A very curious little work hoping to educate school children with moral lessons from the bible. Despite its scarcity, Cullis claims in his preface that the book was very popular, selling numerous copies from Ireland to Australia. He also claims that this edition was printed due to the request of several philanthropic Shropshire ladies. Smartly rebound in blue cloth, with the publisher's original wraps bound inside. Externally, very smart, with minimal marks and edgewear. End papers are generally bright and clean with minor signs of browning. Internally, firmly bound. Slight browning to original paper wraps, and minor wear to corner of front wrap. Pages are bright and mostly clean with faint spots to first leaves. Very Good Indeed. book.
