Quite a scarce collection of African-American, usually slave or 'southern' themes songs and rhymes. No musical notation, just lyrics. Many are transcribed into a jarringly normalized English, "Who stole the woodpile and the axe? / Who turns the turtles on their backs? / Who had some chickens in some funny looking sacks? / Oh Lord, no me."Old black Joe went ambling along / and old black Joe has a happy old song."
