Collated, lacking a hand-coloured map and twenty plates.Volume III is illustrated with nine plates and seven folding genealogies. Collated, lacking the frontispiece and thirty plates.Volume IV is illustrated with a frontispiece, six folding genealogies, and six plates. Collated, lacking two folding plans and maps, and thirty-eight plates.The author, Edward Baines, was a native of Lancashire, and was the editor and proprietor of the 'Leeds Mercury'. He is the great-great-grandfather of author Jilly Cooper.The biographical sections of this work were written by W. R. Whatton.Inscriptions to front pastedowns. In half calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips, and cloth covered boards. Rubbing to back strip heads and tails and joints.
