Teaching beginners the principles behind microscopes and cell biology, Lankester was the first Medical Officer for Health and made major contributions to controlling London's occurent cholera outbreaks. This third edition contains updated information, particularly concerning compound microscopes, and new in-text woodcut illustrations. In the publisher's original cloth with blind stamp detail. Externally, the odd small mark to boards, with slight rubbing to joints and edges. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities, with minor loss to spine head and tail.
