Brossura editoriale illustrata, spillato, cm 19.5 x 13.5, pp 48 illustrate in nero. Ben conservato. Pecetta di aumento prezzo sul piatto posteriore.

Fotografie
Vintage reference photograph from the 1943 film, showing actors Johnny Weissmuller and Frances Gifford. From the collection of artist and author Duncan Hannah. Duncan Hannah was a key figure in the burgeoning New York underground arts scene, befriending Andy Warhol and his superstars, Lou Reed, Allen Ginsberg, Patti Smith, Salvador Dali, and many others. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, his paintings were exhibited in the influential 1980 Times Square Show alongside work by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and several of his paintings are held in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Weissmuller's sixth appearance as Tarzan. Actress Maureen O'Sullivan, typically paired alongside Weissmuller as Tarzan's mate, Jane, was unable to appear in the film, as the franchise had switched from MGM to RKO, and O'Sullivan was a MGM contract player. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with moderate glue residue on the verso.

couverture souple. David Fury, Kings of the Jungle, An Illustrated Reference to «?Tarzan?» on Screen and Television, 2011. | [ENGLISH DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS] First edition of the French translation prepared by Michel Vaucaire, who would later write the lyrics to the famous song Non, je ne regrette rien, singed by Édith Piaf. One of the rare named copies printed on japon. Vertical creasing to spine, minor corner losses to spine and boards, traces of erasure to first two leaves, as issued. Illustrated with 9 black-and-white photographs, including one on the cover. * When this French edition appeared in 1931, Johnny Weissmuller, then 27, had already retired from his brilliant swimming career. By that time, he was a household name in France. His first Olympic triumphs had taken place in Paris in 1924, where he won three gold medals. A few years later, in May 1930, he once again caused a sensation among Parisians by inaugurating the Molitorswimmingpool, where he subsequently worked as a swimming instructor. His contemporaries even gave him a Latin-inspired nickname, as David Fury notes inKings of the Jungle: the Adonis of Swimming. It comes as no surprise, then, that his book on the.

Signed presentation from Weissmuller on the title page: For Vern your [sic] a great guy, Johnny Weissmuller." Uncommon to find signed first editions or any in the original dust jacket. Weissmuller was an Austro-Hungarian-born American competition swimmer and actor, best known for playing Tarzan in films of the 1930s and 1940s and for having one of the best competitive swimming records of the 20th century. After retiring from competitions, he became the sixth actor to portray Edgar Rice Burroughs's ape man, Tarzan- a role he played in 12 motion pictures. Dozens of other actors have also played Tarzan, but Weissmuller is by far the best known. His character's distinctive Tarzan yell is still often used in films. Very Good (bit of rubbing & edgewear; contents clean & tight; small spot of sticker residue to front pastedown & very tiny red dot on the lower edge) some wear (chips, tears & creases; $2.50 price is present on the front flap) d/j.
