Der muslimische Großmogul Shah Jahan ließ das Mausoleum zum Gedenken an seine im Jahre 1631 verstorbene große Liebe Mumtaz Mahal erbauen, 1648 fertig gestellt. Der Taj Mahal wurde 1983 in die Liste des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes aufgenommen. Heute gilt es wegen der Harmonie seiner Proportionen als eines der schönsten und bedeutendsten Beispiele des Mogulstils. Außerdem wird der Taj Mahal als Gebetsstätte der muslimischen Bürger genutzt. Zustand: Einband leicht berieben, Ecken und Kanten etwas bestoßen.
