Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Hardcover. Bound in red leather, with gold lettering on the spine. Gold decorations in each panel. Signs of wear visible at the hinges (some top layer of the red leather lost, revealing natural leather at the hinges). Corners bumped. A lovely Victorian binding on this early 19th century book, but a bit more wear than we'd like to see, rendering this less than jewel-like. Elaborate gold borders and decoration on the boards. Gilt page edges. Title page dated 1822. Frontispiece engraving of Watts has ghosted onto the title page. Early ownership name on first blank. 395 pages. Measures 3.75 x 5.5 inches. Binding tight, pages clean. This copy has a beautiful, DOUBLE original fore-edge painting, One view showing boats on a swan lake with manor house beyond. In the other direction, a great house (or perhaps even walled city). Faint pencil note on front blank identifies them as Fawley Court and Blenheim.
