A drama unfolding on the Great Plains in the days of the Indian Wars, about a tough but misunderstood cavalry captain who suddenly becomes acting commander when his superior dies unexpectedly. James Warner Bellah was a Western genre author, popular from the 1930s to the 1950s for his pulp fiction. His stories have been adapted for film several times, including John Ford's "Fort Apache" (1948), "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" (1949), and "Rio Grande" (1950). Bellah also worked with Willis Goldbeck on the screenplay for "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" (1962). Set in the American West.
