Paperback. Zustand: Good. Hattie Mae Bramble's school is holding its annual Halloween costume contest. Her principal encourages everyone to be original, and Hattie Mae accepts the challenge. So what could go wrong? Follow this young, Midwestern farm girl as she shares her country perspective with classmates. Some folks want to trample Hattie's creativity. Will she let them? Come along as Hattie faces a tough and confusing decision. It all begins as Hattie's fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Brimwood, announces the grade school costume contest in Hattie's classroom. Today, those experiences inform her storytelling, to the delight of young children. Through her writing, Ms. Wargel hopes to transport young minds to a different place, where they, too, can sample the joys of farm life in the Heartland. What Moms Say About Hattie Mae's Halloween: The main character is reminiscent of Junie B. Jones (Barbara Park & Denise Brunkus) or Ramona (Beverly Cleary).
