Includes V1 and V4 from 1991, V1 and V3 from 1992 and V4 from 1993. Table of Contents in English. Paper covers with Tibetan on the front, Chinese inside. Condition is mildly worn, quite intact, no marks, just appear to have been read. Deaccessioned from a library but with only a stamp on the first page, no other marks. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall.

Softbound. Zustand: Very Good. This volume is a photographic survey of the Buddhist cave temples at Xumishan, along the main route of the old Silk Road, near Guyuan, in China's Ningxia Autonomous Region. This complex of grottoes, over 130 in total, were first constructed in the Northern Wei and flourished though to the end of the Tang dynasty. The spectacular stone sculptures within the caves - one, in Cave 5, a sculpture of the seated Meitraya, is 65 feet in height - are recorded systematically in over 191 b&w plates, which also include images of some important inscribed stelae found at the site. Tape residue marks on endpapers, internally clean and unmarked; overall a very good copy. Text in Chinese with captions also in English. 219 pp., 191 b&w plates. Size: 26 x 19 cm.
