First Edition. iv, 270 pp., contemporary half-calf with marbled boards, title gilt on black label on spine, appendices, faint yellowing, tear across page 121 without any loss, otherwise copy in very good condition. Walsh arrived in Constantinople in 1821 as chaplain to Lord Strangford's embassy. The journey described in this work took place in 19824/5 and describes his return to England. In 1830 Walsh returned to Constantinople and remained there until 1835. Blackmer 1764.
