Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851), a major figure of Romanticism, depicted Lake Nemi, a volcanic lake southeast of Rome, in several works. Robert William Wallis (17941878) was a leading English engraver renowned for his interpretations of J.M.W. Turner's landscapes.
