From 1929 until 1940 it had a monthly, pocket-sized companion paper, The Champion Library, containing characters from The Champion and its sister paper The Triumph.[2] The Triumph eventually was merged into The Champion in 1942. Contents good with some colour illustrations by Ivy L Wallace, with B&W versions for a child to colour in. Some have been fairly neatly coloured in, some have not. Ivy L Wallace was best know for writing and illustrating books about Pookie the little winged rabbit, and the Animal Shelf books, to which this painting book is linked. The stories are about Gumpa the Teddy Bear, Woeful the Monkey, Stripey the Zebra, Little Mut the cat and Getup the Giraffe, the favourite toys of a little boy called Timothy who live together on the Animal Shelf. Scarce.
