Lenore E. A. La doctora Walker se especializó en el estudio de las víctimas de violencia interpersonal, especialmente mujeres maltratadas y niños víctimas de abusos. Obtuvo su licenciatura en 1962 en el CUNY Hunter College, realizó un master en Ciencias en 1967 en el CUNY City College y se doctoró en Psicología en 1972 en Rutgers, la Universidad de Nueva Jersey. En el 2004, recibió el cargo de profesora de Psicofarmacología Clínica de la Universidad Nova Southeastern. A mediados de la década de los ochenta, fue nombrada miembro de la APA, llegando a formar parte durante varios trimestres del Consejo de Representantes de la APA, además de ser miembro de la Junta Directiva y presidenta de algunas divisiones, entre las que se incluye la División 35, la Sociedad para la Psicología Femenina; la División 42, Práctica Independiente; la División 46, Psicología de los Medios de Comunicación; igualmente, formó parte de diversas juntas y comités, como el Comité sobre Temas Legales (COLI) y el Comité sobre Relaciones Internaciones en Psicología (CIRP).
