A large taxonomy of the birds of Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, with a fold-out map at the front and 20 tissue-guarded black & white plates to the rear. The bookplate of O. W. Tancock to front pastedown, and a typewritten letter about the sale of the book within. This is a heavy item and may require additional postage if being shipped outside of Europe. Small 4to.

Some toning to the pages, some damp staining to the rear end papers which slightly touches the margin of the final coloured plate. Title pages to each part bound in. A good copy of this attractive series of bird paintings by George Henry an artist who spent much of his working life in Sri Lanka.

Second edition. 8vo. xxxiv, 494 pp. Publisher's green cloth, black lettered to the spine and upper board, some neat contemporary underlining and marginalia. Folding map of the island. Rebacked preserving much of the original spine, some discolouration and marking to the cloth, else a sound copy.

Colombo, The Colombo Museum, [1914]-1920. Four papers in one. 8vo (23.3 x 14.8 cm). 207 [32; 82; 60; 33] pp.; 4 [0; 2; 1; 1] plates. Contemporary half calf over red cloth boards. Gilt title on the spine. = In the third paper, the author describes the last two papers as "instalment[s] of the rough draft for the handbook on the birds of Ceylon". That work was published in 1925 but does not contain all the data presented here. The first paper is mainly on distribution of bird genera, then (and now) occurring on Ceylon in time and space. All three works are published in Spolia Zeylanica, the Bulletin of the Ceylon Museum, Volume 10, together with several other contributions to the natural history of what is now Sri Lanka. Joints rubbed, otherwise very good. Rare.
