In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. Original printed paper covered boards with yellow cloth spine 13x19cm. (8), 64pp with numerous b/w maps, drawings and photo illustrations in text. Boards very good, spine dusted. Some sections are starting to come loose. Apparent bleeding from the spine cloth has caused red staining to several inner margins. First published in 1932, this is the 4th and apparently final printing (1944), with RH Ardill's book of the same name appearing in 1945. Ingrams wrote it and a separately published "School History" (1931) while he was Assistant Colonial Secretary on Mauritius, in between his postings to Zanzibar and Aden. The Schools Committee adopted it as their official textbook for higher primary and middle secondary classes. It contains descriptions of Mauritian districts and dependencies, illustrated with photos of local scenes by Roger Halbwachs. Rare, with 6 locations for all printings on Worldcat and Library Hub (1932 at BL, Oxford, National Library of Scotland, NYPL; 1940 at National Library of Australia; and 1944 at Stellenbosch).

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Good. Original printed brown cloth quarter bound with brown leatherette 22x35cm. (2)pp title page and contents, 10pp text, complete with 2 very large folding tables (66x53cm, 270x32cm). Former African Society / International African Institute copy with ink stamps within. Covers good, marked to the boards, rubbed to the corners and spine with a little loss. Interiors good, lightly creased and tanned. Tables neatly folded with some short closed tears and the bottom left panel of the first slightly trimmed to the edge to allow it to unfold from the tight binding (not affecting text). William Harold Ingrams was at this time Assistant Secretary to the Zanzibar Government. Collating and correcting all existing sources, he presents a Chronological Table showing the Rulers of Zanzibar from c700BC to 1911 (first folding table with historical remarks); Genealogies of local rulers of Zanzibar and Pemba (2pp including biographical notes); Genealogical Table of the Royal Family (Aulad Imam) of the Albu Said Dynasty of Zanzibar and Oman (2nd folding table with 5pp biographical notes and an Addendum referencing Princess Salme's book); and Table of Precedence of Members of the Aulad Imam in Zanzibar (1pp). Ingrams was assisted by the British Resident AC Hollis. HH the Sultan approved the Table of Precedence, and the Tree declaring it "as complete as it can ever be" (Preface). Among numerous works cited in his Bibliography are the Genealogies of the Albusaid compiled by the Sultan, Major FB Pearce, and Lt-Col P. Rigby, in the year the Sultanate was divided between the sons of Seyyid Said into Zanzibar and Oman (1861). Quite scarce institutionally, with around 24 locations on Worldcat and Library Hub.

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. 1931. An unusual copy, complete and intact throughout with all contents, plates, and maps present, but with an erroneous 16-page additional section - a duplication of pp. 433-448, immediately following that same section of text and part of the original binding (not inserted), before continuing the content as normal. Some mild browning and foxing around the outer page edges and lightly thumbed corners, commensurate with age and use, but no major creases or wear, folding map in particular seems barely used with no significant marks or wear. Covers firm and secure, faded along the spine from sunlight exposure but otherwise bearing just a few minor spots and marks, gilt titles remain bright.
