Richmond wishes to peddle ice in Woburn, Mass. and surrounding towns. The Articles of Agreement include: enough ice supplied for the purpose; provision of a horse and waggon; Richmond guaranteeing to spend "his whole time" to peddling ice during the season; which ice to take for the houses, and the state the houses are to be left in; Richmond undertakes to collect the money from sales and give a true account; Richmond to pay expenses arising from keeping and shoeing the horse and repairing the waggon for which Richmond will also pay $50 for the season; Richmond will divide proceeds with Draper over and above expenses; Richmond will give up the ice peddling business at the end of the season unless given permission in writing by Draper under penalty of $500. Note: Homans says that , in 1847, 4000 tonnes of ice was stored at Horn Pond, Woburn, ice houses in his "Sketches of Boston".…
