In the original cloth binding. Externally, with heavy fading to the spine and some of the front board. With rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Marks to the boards, including a damp stain to the front. Internally, with a few pages loosening but generally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. With offsetting to the endpapers and occasional spotting, heavily concentrated to the leaves around the plates. Good. book.

Overall, this copy is in good condition. A 3pp subscribers list is loosely inserted. This was one of only two editions (the other being the second edition of 1842) to include the lengthy stud book, which has a separate half-title "A Kennel stud book, shewing the pedigrees of many of the most celebrated packs of fox-hounds in England, 1840".
