Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. If you have an interest in books about the history of New York State, and in particular, that of Central New York, this is a book you will have seen being cited. Please find: Forts and Firesides of the Mohawk Country New York written by John J. Vrooman. The subtitle reads: The stories and pictures of landmarks of the pre-Revolutionary War period throughout the Mohawk Valley and the surrounding countryside including some historic and genealogical mention during the post-War period. This large hard cover book (8 ? x 10 ? inches 266 pages) was compiled and published by Elijah Ellsworth Brownell of Philadelphia Pennsylvania dated 1943 and the First Edition with the same date on title and copyright pages. It is Number 628 of a limited edition of one thousand copies. The book is bound in beige buckram boards with blue & gilt title panels on cover and spine. Please see the photos of the Table of Contents and the List of Illustrations for your further information. I counted 69 illustrations on the latter list. The endpapers are decorated with two different maps one of the Mohawk Valley and the other of Sir John Johnsons route on his raid on the British in 1780. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and faded (as are all of those being offered online). The title panels are still legible but show considerable rubbing. The corners and spine tips are just lightly bumped. Inside the only mark I found is a former owner s bookplate on the dedication page. The interior pages and plates are clean and bright throughout without any real toning or foxing. The front hinge is cracked; the rear intact and the binding seems tight and sound.
