[Blackmer: 781] This pamphlet was circulated by Elgin to further his campaign to have the marbles purchased by the government. Blackmer considers that it was written by Elgin and edited by Hamilton. The spine rebacked in calf and the boards recornered, a very nice copy of the first edition in a contemporary binding with the bookplate of James Maberly (1783 - 1860) collector and author of 'The Print Collector.'
