Il volume fu composto dagli architetti e storici dell'architettura Julius Vischer e Ludwig Hiberseimer, quest'ultimo direttore del Dipartimento per la pianificazione della città presso il Bauhaus di Dessau, membro del Novembergruppe, dell'Arbeitsrat für Kunst e del CIAM.
