Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. Effects of Radiation on Semiconductors by Viktor Sergeevich Vavilov First Printing 1965 published by Consultants Bureau, New York With Dust Jacket A first printing of Effects of Radiation on Semiconductors by Viktor Sergeevich Vavilov, published in 1965 by Consultants Bureau, New York. This important scientific work was translated from Russian by A. Tybulewicz, Editor of Physics Abstracts and Current Papers in Physics in London. The book presents research on how radiation affects semiconductor materials, an area of growing importance during the early development of modern electronics and space-era technology. This volume reflects the international scientific exchange of the Cold War Era, bringing significant Soviet research in semiconductor physics to an English-speaking audience. Works from this period documenting early semiconductor and radiation studies are of interest to collectors of physics, electronics history, and Cold War Era scientific literature. The book retains its original dust jacket. The jacket is price-clipped and shows typical signs of age, including several small rips and tears along with light age marks and wear. Despite these flaws, the jacket remains intact and presents well for its age. The book itself is in very good condition. The maroon cloth cover shows some fading, but the embossed titling on the spine remains clear and bright. There is no bumping to the edges, and the binding is tight and solid. The interior pages are clean with no writing, marks, or highlighting. There is no foxing noted in the main text, though there is very slight foxing visible on a few pages, mostly toward the rear end papers. Several loose note papers from the previous owner are tucked inside, containing handwritten calculations and formulas related to the subject matter. Overall, this is a well-preserved example of an early English-language edition of a significant work on semiconductor physics, complete with its original dust jacket and suitable for collectors of scientific and technological history.
