hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. From the library of Jan Snyder Matthews, noted Florida author. Jacket has minor shelf wear, binding tight, pages clean and unmarked. First edition hardcover of Panic in Paradise: Florida's Banking Crash of 1926 by Raymond B. Vickers (University of Alabama Press). This copy carries two signatures: the author's signature on the half-title page, plus a handwritten inscription dated 24 Oct 97 from Bob Milligan, Lieutenant General, USMC (Ret.) and Florida State Comptroller, to a "Tom Matthews." Milligan's note references "attacking the academic windmill" and praises the book as reflecting "the energy and intensity of the author" ? closing with the Marine motto Semper Fidelis. A niche Florida banking history title made significantly more collectible by the Milligan association: he served as Florida Comptroller from 1995?2002 and had direct regulatory jurisdiction over the very subject matter of this book. Dust jacket present and intact. Signed by Author.
