Text (in French) by Emile Male. With a frontispiece and thirty-one splendid colour tipped-in plates, plus an additional twenty-eight black & white reproductions. Corners a little rubbed and creased, with a touch of fairly superficial chipping to the wrapper spine panel ends and several small areas of light miscellaneous staining to the rear board. A very good copy. Jean Bourdichon served as official court painter to four successive French kings: Louis XI, Charles VIII, Louis XII, and François I. As court painter, he designed stained glass windows, coins, and gold plate, illuminated manuscripts, and executed independent paintings.
