Stewechii & Francisci Modii. Le texte de Polybe (livre VI de son Histoire) a été traduit en latin par Janus Lascaris (1445-1535). Le dictionnaire militaire Modesti libellus De vocabulis rei militaris a été élaboré par Pomponius Laetus (1425-1497, ou Leto) et ses élèves d'après l'ouvrage de Végèce. Il nous est resté de cet auteur un traité en cinq parties : la première traite des recrues et du recrutement, la seconde de l'organisation de la Légion et des anciennes armées romaines, la troisième des manuvres militaires en campagne, la quatrième de l'attaque et de la défense des places fortes, la cinquième quant à elle concerne la tactique navale. Steewech, commentateur de cette édition, fut professeur à Pont-à-Mousson.
