La differenza è significativa: un amore ha un inizio, un'intensità, sfiorisce e può colorare il resto della vita, mentre una storia sentimentale persiste anche dopo la fine, trasformando l'uomo, il mondo e le parole in funzione di quella speranza e di quel ricordo. Ogni valore e sensazione nasce, vive e muore nella speranza e nel ricordo. Le poesie sono state scritte principalmente nel '62-'63, con alcune nel '61, poche nel '60 e nel '64. Seguendole cronologicamente, si percepisce il sovrapporsi e il prevalere di motivi diversi, seguendo una logica, o più spesso una non-logica, che caratterizza le manifestazioni umane. La tecnica non è fondamentale; ciò che conta è il lungo viaggio e la consapevolezza di diventare uomo, acquisita attraverso la sofferenza.
