The poetry begins with Tvardovsky's The Soul of our People, followed by Pushkin's lyric poems, narrative poems, dramas, and tales in verse. The prose contains The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich, Belkin, The Queen of Spades, and The Captain's Daughter. Both volumes have colour and black & white illustrations of portraits, scenes from Pushkin's life etc. Condition: The books are in very good order and in strong readable condition, the dustwrapper have several small closed tears to the edges.

Dark cloth with gilt ap. lettering a that foundation's logo to front, no obvious faults bar hint of corner bumping. 416 pp.; small sig. top fr. end-paper otherwise clean and unmarked but end-papers heavily tanned and hints of gutter and edge tanning throughout, probably common to most copes. In addition to title play this has 'Gustav Vasa, Erik XIV and The Saga of the Folkungs. I assume these are firsts English translations. 13.5 cm x 19.5 cm.

Gulrukhsor Safieva (born 17 December 1947) is a prominent Iranologist, Persian literary figure and Tajik poet. In the late 1970s, Safieva was editor-in-chief of the newspaper Pioneer of Tajikistan. She was known for her contribution to Iranistics, modern Persian poetry and Persian folk songs. She is highly regarded throughout Iranian cultural continent Writers from the Tajikistan region have made notable contributions to literature since the 10th century Common Era, and a vigorous folk literature continues. Tajik literature stems from a broader Persian literary tradition that can be traced back to the poet R dak . Tajiks consider the Sh h-n meh to be the national epic and cherish the work of R m . A number of Tajik poets and novelists achieved fame during the 20th century. They included Abdalrauf Fitrat, whose dialogues Munazärä (The Dispute) and Qiyamät (Last Judgment) have been reprinted many times in Tajik, Russian, and Uzbek, and Sadriddin Ayni, known for his novel Dokhunda (The Mountain Villager) and for his autobiography, Yoddoshtho (1949-54; published in English as Bukhara). Both Fitrat and Ayni were bilingual, writing in Uzbek and Tajik.
