Zwar ist die Zeit vorüber, in der die Kostümgeschichte ganz und gar als das "Aschenbrödel der Kunstgeschichte" galt, aber dennoch liegt hier noch ein großes Arbeitsfeld nahezu brach, denn allzuoft ist bis jetzt das Kostüm, wenn man sich damit beschäftigte, doch noch bloß als Kuriosum behandelt, und die Anzahl genauer Trachtenstudien mit vorausgesetzt methodisch-wissenschaftlicher Absicht blieb bis heute noch gar zu beschränkt.
