Vintage US pressbook for the 1956 British film noir, originally released by Hammer Films in the UK as "Women Without Men" and retitled "Blonde Bait" for the US release. An interesting B-noir from the Poverty Row canon. Associated Film Releasing re-edited "Women Without Men," a 1956 Hammer Films production, with Beverly Michaels as a prison stool pigeon, but edited in Jim Davis as a murderous traitor (Paul Carpenter held the same role for its release in the UK). 12 x 14 inches. Very Good plus, with several short tears at one edge, and light stressing to the folds.

A small English village is thrown into turmoil when a pop star moves into town and takes over conductorship of the local brass band. The film originally aired on January 6, 1980, on PBS. Shot on location in Hertfordshire, England. Press kit Very Good plus, with light edgewear to the folder and its contents.

Draft script for the 1958 British comedy, copy belonging to Art Director George Provis, with the annotation of his name along the top edge of the front wrapper, with manuscript pencil annotations on four pages. George Provis was a British Art Director and Production Designer who began his career working on quota quickies (low budget features made to comply with Britain's Cinematograph Films Act of 1927) in the 1930s. After the Second World War, Provis was appointed by British film producer Sydney Box to head the art department at Gainsborough Pictures, and is credited on over 120 films. Sequel to the 1958 British film "Up the Creek," also directed by Val Guest, and starring David Tomlinson and Peter Sellers. Sellers was unable to appear in the sequel because of scheduling conflicts with another film. When the Navy frigate, the "Aristotle," is sold to a fictitious Middle Eastern power, the ship's bosun, played by Frankie Howerd, sells tickets for the voyage as a luxury cruise unbeknownst to the Captain. Shot on location in Portland Harbour, England. Pink titled wrappers. Title page present, with credits for screenwriters Val Guest, John Warren, and Len Heath. 199 leaves, with last page of text numbered 195. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. [Movie Memorabilia] A set of twelve lobby cards from the French version of the film 'When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth' written and directed by Val Guest, and starring Victoria Vetri. Colour lithographic images on light stock measuring 24 x 30cm, with studio credits in French to a box in one corner of the image (12). Lightly handled and creased. Near fine. Note on Format: the Lobby Card is a small poster or titled still printed on card stock, usually 8 x 10 inches (UK and Europe) or 11 x 14 inches (US) in a landscape view. Generally produced in sets of eight in colour for Britain and America, intended for display in a cinema foyer or lobby.

Jackson exploits the young singer, who only wants to play bongos, and their relationship turns sour. Generally considered a classic B-movie, so bad it's good. Vintage candid reference photograph from the 1960 film, featuring members of "The Crazy Gang," director Val Guest, Shirley Eaton, circus impresario Billy Smart and wife, and guests. "The Crazy Gang" were a much-loved British comedy troupe who performed for over three decades. Formed in the early 1930s, they performed largely at the London Palladium, as well as numerous Royal Command performances, and made five feature films, "Life is a Circus" being their last. Core members were Bud Flanagan, Chesney Allen, Jimmy Nervo, Teddy Knox, Charlie Naughton, and Jimmy Gold. Billy Smart was a popular British showman and founder of Billy Smart's New World Circus. The circus was featured in two 1960 films, "Life is a Circus" and Anglo-Amalgamated's "Circus of Horrors," directed by Sidney Hayers. "The Crazy Gang" save the struggling Joe Winter's Monster Circus with an Aladdin's magic lantern. 9.75 x 7.75 inches. Near Fine.

In the 1940s Guest wrote the lyrics to several songs by the American composer Manning Sherwin (1902-1974), several of them for his comedy 'I'll be your Sweetheart' (1945), but he is not known to have written any music himself. No record has been found of the present item, but it presumably dates from the same period. It is 4pp., 4to. On bifolium of printed music paper. In good condition, lightly aged and worn, with central vertical fold. The title is on the cover: '"Swell" | Lyrics and music by | Val Guest'. There is an illegible name lightly written at top right in another hand. The music is neatly written out in ink. The lyrics are not present, except for one phrase in pencil ('You sent me a note and beneath it you wrote it's been swell').

Allen and Moffat were members of the Crazy Gang, a group of British entertainers formed in the 1930s and popular throughout the wartime years. The gang produced a string of comedy films directed by Marcel Varnel, "O-Kay for Sound" being the first, followed by "Alf's Button Afloat" in 1938, "The Frozen Limits" in 1939, "Gasbags" in 1941, and "Life is a Circus" in 1958. 10 x 8 inches. Folded (presumably as issued), edgewear including chips and tears, a tape repair to the bottom of the recto, scattered pinholes, and small holes where the folds intersect, good or better. A fun promotional poster for the film *When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth* printing the "Caveman's Vocabulary" with useful terms like "wandi," one meaning being "where are you" and "akita," one meaning being "look." Follow along with the film or have a prehistoric discourse with your friends. This poster appears to be much more uncommon than the more traditional movie poster also released for the film, which we think makes it really t'ammo, or "really something!".
