Currey p. 324.] Lovecraft's first published book based on the Cthulhu Mythos intended to be circulated amongst a small circle of the author's inner circle. According to the publisher approximately 400 copies were printed, of which about 200 were bound, the remainder destroyed at a later date. Issued in November 1936 despite the copyright stating April 1936 and later reprinted in a 1942 issue of Weird Tales.
