A scrapbook of images, drawing, stories and news clippings documenting life and the legal battles at Lou Gottlieb's Morning Star Ranch commune, which he established in 1966 in rural Sonoma County, California near the towns of Occidental and Sebastopol. The commune was also called The Digger Farm for its association with the SF guerrilla theater/activist group The Diggers. It played a central role in the California counterculture and hippie movement. Ramon Sender was said to be the first resident to move into Gottlieb's commune. Sender co-produced the Trips Festival with Ken Kesey and Stewart Brand. Brand's The Whole Earth Catalog called Morning Star "one of the wooliest anybody-come communes ever!".
