The Quirinal Palace is a historic building in Rome, Italy, the main official residence of the President of the Italian Republic. At the time of this photograph, however, it was the official royal residence of the Kings of Italy.

The circular Temple of Vesta, popular goddess of home, hearth and family, is located in the Roman Forum near the Regia and the House of the Vestal Virgins.

Also known as the Mausoleum of Hadrian, this historical structure was built on the right bank of the Tiber in AD 135-139. Initially built as a mausoleum for Roman Emperor Hadrian and his family, it was transformed into a fortress in the 5th century. Opera fans may recall that the Forte features prominently in Puccini's "Tosca." Decommissioned in 1901, the fortress became a museum. This photo, dating to its use as a fort, will appeal to admirers of Hadrian, Rome, and Puccini.

Rome's Spanish Steps are the monumental staircase connecting the Piazza di Spagna at the base to the Trinità dei Monti church at the top. The 135 steps may be a famous landmark and a popular place to collapse after a day of sightseeing, but it's so much more restful to gaze at this photo, delightfully free of tourists.

Part of number visible in bottom left corner. Founded during the fourth century, this is the official seat of the Bishop of Rome, who is, of course, the Pope. The most important church in Christendom, the oldest public church in the city of Rome, and the oldest basilica in the Western world. And a great photo.

The largest Marian (dedicated to Mary) church in Rome, S. Maria Maggiore is regarded as the first Marian sanctuary in the Western world. If you don't wish to make a pilgrimage, you may enjoy this historic photograph, showing an empty square, blessedly free of tourists.

Piazza del Campidoglio ("Capitoline Square") is a public square on top of the ancient Capitoline Hill, designed as the first of Rome's "modern" squares by Michelangelo himself in the 16th century. While there are many approaches, these stairs may be among the most stately.

Trajan's Forum, built after Emperor Trajan defeated Dacia, was the last of the Imperial fora to be constructed in ancient Rome. Aside from the "ghost" of a horse and carriage in the right background, there are no living creatures in this photo, not even one of the forum's famous cats.

Possible number or photographer's ID in bottom left. Right side of photo a bit lightened. Lovely old photo of this low-lying area south and east of Rome, around the ruins of the Claudian Aqueduct. Built during the Empire's glory days, the Aqueduct remains awe-inspiring, even in decay.

Zustand: Fair. Two 18 cm cards with b&w photo of church. Caption underneath reads: "Souvenir of the dedication of Fame United Evangelical Church, Sunday, November 24, 1895." Smaller caption at bottom reads "Moweaqua Call-Mail Half-tone Print." One of these cards has chipped topo left corner, small holes, damp stains. The other has a hole at top centre, some soiling. Also a 13 x 21 cm b&w photo of the church on 20 x 25 cm boards. Top corner of board chipped. Some stains to photo along with pencil notation. Also a 19 x 25 cm b&w photo on slightly larger card. Bottom corner covered in ink, some spots elsewhere and photo is faded. This congregation still exists with a newer building. Church website confirms the original building was built in 1895.
