Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This volume presents the personal memoir of S. George Ullman, written in 1975, alongside the complete text of his earlier book titled, Valentino As I Knew Him. Ullman was silent film star Rudolph Valentino's business manager, confidant and close personal friend during the height of Valentino's career. His unique position offers an intimate, firsthand view of Valentino's professional life, his working methods and private character as well as the realities of the silent era film industry behind the scenes. The 1975 memoir which was unpublished in Ullman's lifetime expands on his earlier account with greater reflection, personal detail and historical distance. It includes candid observations, professional correspondence and recollections written near the end of Ullman's life; providing a rare perspective unavailable in contemporary sources. The manuscript was preserved by Ullman's children who granted exclusive authorization for its publication. Author and historian Evelyn Zumaya Floris presents the memoir here together with Ullman's original 1926 text, allowing readers to trace the content and the evolution of the account across fifty years. This edition restores an important primary source to the historical record and offers scholars, film historians and general readers a direct voice from Valentino's inner circle.

Archive of four vintage oversize double weight photographs on location in the Cascade Mountains, WA for the 1973 film, with one photograph showing director Charles Jarrott and a cameraman on preparing to shoot a scene with featuring extras. Three photographs are borderless. From the archive of photographer Alan Pappe, with his stamp, signature, and manuscript ink annotations on the verso of two photographs. Pappe worked as a film still and press photographer for 30 years, photographing a who's who of film and music stars, including iconic images of Sharon Tate, Jimi Hendrix, and Liza Minnelli, as well as album cover for the "Grease" soundtrack album, and the interior images of Jefferson Airplane's "After Bathing at Baxter's." His 1972 "Time" magazine cover photograph of Minnelli in "Cabaret" is part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. Based on the 1933 novel by James Hilton, about the survivors of a plane crash in the Himalays, who are rescued and taken to the mystical valley of Shangri-La. Previously filmed in 1937, directed by Frank Capra, and starring Ronald Colman and Jane Wyatt. Approximately 14 x 10 inches, irregularly trimmed. Near Fine.
