The center of the Australian defence small arms industry is Lithgow, a quaint town in New South Wales, tucked in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. Despite the town's diminutive size, Lithgow Small Arms Factory (SAF) has enabled national independence in small arms supply for over a century. From 1959 through 1986 Lithgow SAF produced the L1A1 and L2A1 (heavy barrel) Self Loading Rifle (SLR) based on the FN FAL. Perhaps more impressive, Lithgow independently experimented and developed a continuous series of product-improved versions of the SLR. Culminating in the final version of the SLR, the X3 F2A2, Lithgow's attempt to extend the life of the SLR is unparralleled. Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum is an independent, volunteer-based organizaion to conserve Australia'a small arms history. This is their collection, preserved so that Australians may stand proud of the country's security independence and innovation. Depicted in this volume are significant and rare specimens including: *First Lithgow SLR produced; *200,000th Lithgow SLR produced; *L2A1 heavy barrel prototypes; *Target Rifle prototypyes; *Canadian C1 NS x2, FN 50.00, other foreign trials rifles; and, *X3 F2A2, the final version of the SLR, Includes almost 300 full color photographs of 47 rare FN FAL and SLR rifles and critical documents with a special photo expose on the X3 F2A2. Very Scarce. The is a tiny bump on the top front back corner, otherwise the Book is in Fine condition very little use.
