Mild cracking to gutters, however binding remains firm. Notable thumb-marking present. Boards have notable edgewear with corner crushing and… notable marking and mottling to boards. Heavy tanning to board edges and spine, which has mild crushing to ends. Book has forward lean. Boards are mildly warped. Moderate water stains to boards.

Edward Francis Twining (1899-1967) was a British diplomat, formerly Governor of North Borneo and Governor of Tanganyika. He is probably best known as the author of 'A History of the Crown Jewels of Europe'. This little book is in…tended to provide a brief history and description of the Regalia of Scotland. The book is staple-bound in the original grey card covers with black titling on the front cover. The book is in very good condition with light shelf wear to the covers and rusting to the staples binding the book. The contents are secure and clean with foxing to pages 16 to 24 (this is fairly heavy to pages 18 and 19). A name and date (1936) has been written on the half-title page.

Closed page edge is spotty, as are the preliminary pages thereafter generally pages are clean and clear. Abundantly illustrated with plates in colour and in black and white.
