Rear cover advert is for the Daily Mail Yearbook 1915. 176pps, 265 gms. The Daily Mail's evidence that it had spent nearly twenty years forecasting the war with Germany that had just started.

FIRST EDITION, poor quality paper browned throughout, pp. 176, 4to, original buff wrappers printed in red and black, a few nicks and light corner-creasing, short splits at head of joints, some faint tiny spots to front, a little open at upper hinge but secure, good. A fragile item, and an uncommon survival on that basis. A self-congratulatory record of the newspaper's prophetic powers, documenting a twenty year lead-up to the conflict on its pages - it also pauses to swipe at the less perspicacious journalism of their competitors, which it appends in pointed contrast.
