In den Warenkorbpaperback. Zustand: Very Good. Most of our very good books have only minor imperfections such as shelf wear consistent with a new book that's sat on a bookshop shelf for a year or two. Occasionally we may miss other minor imperfections as we have to grade books at speed. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Schack August Steenberg Krogh (1874-1949) was a Danish professor at the department of zoophysiology at the University of Copenhagen from 1916 to 1945. He contributed a number of fundamental discoveries within several fields of physiology, and is famous for developing the Krogh Principle. Chromolithographic prints by Sackett and Wilhelms on gold card mount. 2 vols. 20 x 30 inches. Two spectacular chromolithographic prints of Atlantic Salmon by A.D. Turner, uniform with the sumptuous turn-of-the-century series of twelve plates to accompany Dr. Frank M. Johnson's Forest, Lake and River. The first depicts a leaping salmon; the second a plunging salmon taking a fly. Little is known of the life and career of August D. Turner (d. 1919), who worked as a portraitist and exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. The large and dynamic paintings of fish for Johnson's work are his chief legacy. Few completes sets of the suite of twelve plates have survived. The present plates are UNRECORDED. Reuter p. 722; for Johnson, cf. Wetzel p. 166 "sumptuous"; Bruns B-33 "Of extreme rarity with the plates, bringing any price"; Heckscher 1129 Some light edgewear, else fine. Cloth folding box Chromolithographic prints by Sackett and Wilhelms on gold card mount. 2 vols. 20 x 30 inches.
