Zustand: Good. Piper, H. Beam (19041964) and William Tuning. Little Fuzzy (1962), Fuzzy Bones (1981), and Fuzzies and Other People (1984). New York: Ace Science Fiction. Three volumes, all mass market paperbacks, each signed in gold ink by cover artist Michael Whelan along the lower front edge. An appealing complete run of the Fuzzy trilogyfirst paperback editions of all three, with the latter two true first printings. Bindings tight and square; moderate toning and light edge wear consistent with age. Light rubbing to edges and mild spine creasing, primarily to Little Fuzzy. No loose or detached pages. Each signature bright and stable. Little Fuzzy has a used bookstore stamp. H. Beam Piper's Fuzzy novels follow prospector Jack Holloway on the planet Zarathustra as he discovers the small, furred, intelligent creatures known as Fuzzies. The books explore sentience, empathy, and colonial ethics. Little Fuzzy (Book 1, 1962) introduced the species; Fuzzy Bones (Book 2, 1981) by William Tuning continued Piper's universe posthumously; and Fuzzies and Other People (Book 3, 1984) completed Piper's intended arc from a rediscovered manuscript. Michael Whelan (b. 1950) is a Hugo Awardwinning American illustrator regarded as one of the most influential SF and fantasy artists of the late 20th century. Recipient of 15 Hugo Awards, 3 World Fantasy Awards, and the Locus Award for Best Artist (22 times), Whelan's luminous, painterly style defined the look of modern speculative fiction. His covers for the Fuzzy novels vividly captured Piper's blend of wonder and moral inquiry. Subjects: H. Beam Piper, Michael Whelan, Sentient Life, Classic Sci-Fi Series, Ace Science Fiction, Collectible Paperbacks, Science Fiction, Space Exploration, Anthropological SF.
