The hinges are strong. The binding is sound. The dust jacket is absent. Interior - Pages are generally clean and supple. There is no foxing. Pages exhibit age-appropriate toning, with heavier browning to the endpapers and page margins. The front free endpaper has a blue ink stamp "PROPERTY OF VAN ANTWERP SCHOOL!" on the left and a pencil inscription "Desk Copy" and "A. 13" on the right. There are no tears, stains, creases, or repairs.

In französischer Sprache an den Historiker, Archivar und Hochschullehrer Karl Adolf Konstantin Höfler (1811-97) über dessen letzten Brief, den zu lesen er Mühe hatte, da er trotz seines Gefallens an allem Deutschen mit der Kurrentschrift noch nicht ganz vertraut sei, sowie über die bedauerliche Narrhe…it des Theologen und Predigers Charles Jean Marie Loyson, genannt Père Hyacinthe, der, wie er meint, eher an Dummheit als an Stolz leide, sowie ihre geteilte Bewunderung der auf der Fuldaer Bischofskonferenz gebrauchten Sprache, woraus er Hoffnung für den Ausgang eines zukünftigen Konzils schöpfe: "Je suis très réconnaissant de la lettre que vous m'avez fait l'honneur de m'écrire le 10 de ce mois [.] Je dois vous avouer toutefois que j'ai eu beaucoup de peine à vous lire et ne suis pas sûr d'y être parvenu complètement, parce que, malgré mon goût passionné pour tout ce qui est allemand, je n'ai jamais pu parvenir à me familiariser avec ce qu'on appelle l'écriture allemande [.] Vous déplorez avec moi l'incroyable folie du P. Dr. Maret [.] sous le titre: du Concile Général et de la Paix réligieuse. The photograph highlights not only the spectacular production design, but the camera crane developed by director Paul Fejos, which enabled the cumbersome cameras at the time to fluidly move at nearly every conceivable angle, and at the speed of… 600 feet per minute. "DUPL NYPL" stamp and mimeo snipe on the verso, original mimeograph snipe visible through linen backing. Based on the 1926 musical by Philip Dunning and George Abbott. Lovers Ray Lane (Glenn Tryon) and Billie Moore (Merna Kennedy) are performers rehearsing at the Paradise Nightclub when they are inadvertently drawn into backstage bootlegging and murder. Universal's first talking picture with Technicolor sequences. The Criterion Collection reconstructed the incomplete surviving talking version in 2012 and was included in their release of Paul Fejos' 1928 film "Lonesome." 7.5 x 10 inches.
