St.a….T.u.Vorsatz, saubere Exemplare. Erste Ausgabe. - Allen (1793 - 1864), verdienter Afrika-Forscher, nahm bereits 1832 - 34 als Leutnant an der Niger-Expediton von R. Landers teil. - Vorliegender Bericht behandelt die Niger-Expedition von 1841 unter der Leitung von Trotter, während welcher Allen das Dampfschiff 'Wilberforce' befehligte. Er erreichte die Benue-Mündung, wo er, da fast die gesamte Mannschaft seines Schiffes erkrankt war, umkehren mußte, während Trotter mit dem 'Alber' noch ca. 50 Meilen weiter flußaufwärts vordringen konnte. Auch auf dieser Forschungsreise wurden zahlreiche Messungen und Aufnahmen der Küste von Allen vorgenommen. - Die Tafeln zeigen u.a. Landschaften, Eingeborene, Siedlungen, verschiedene Eingeborenenszenen, eine Piratensiedlung. - Brunet 20865; Gay 2739; Hess/Coger 6939; Henze I, 50/51; Embacher 7/8 (zu Allen) und 287/288 (zu Trotter).
