Rear hinge is cracked but intact. Page edges are darkened. Bound in brown cloth with gilt titles. Heavy wear around the edges, cloth is torn on the corners and the ends of the spine. Large tears on the tail end of the spine. Spine is creased and rubbed. Binding feels loose, cracked in places. Boards are lightly scuffed. 1ST EDITION. SCARCE. G. Book.

A clean, VG first edition copy of a scarce account of a famous smuggler, known at the time as Abd el Hai, out of Somalia; and his adventures in the Pearl Trade, smuggling arms, slaves and hashish from Egypt, Ethiopia, Yemen, through the Red Sea into the Gulf of Aden. 8vo. Illustrated.
